The Hardest FastPass+ Reservations to Get at Walt Disney World Resorts

by Christy

My favorite part of Disney are the attractions and more specifically the cool rides. What I didn’t know when I booked my first Walt Disney World trip is that you can make a FastPass+ reservation in advance on some rides. I booked our family trip within the 60-day window so that meant our chances of getting what we wanted were starting to get slim. Know how the system works before you book your vacation!

What is a FastPass+ at Walt Disney World?

Think reservations for rides. A Disney FastPass+ is a system that helps guests reserve attraction times within the Walt Disney World parks. There is no waiting in the long line when you have a FastPass+, you simply take the designated line, and the wait time is much shorter.

It’s also called FastPass Plus or FP+

How Much Does a FastPass+ Cost?

It is free with a park admission

How to Make a Reservation

It’s all automated. You can make your FastPass+ reservation through your Authorized Disney Vacation Planner or on your own using a computer, smartphone or tablet and using the My Disney Experience mobile app for the Walt Disney World Resort.

When Can You Book a FastPass+?

  • If you are staying at one of the 30+ Walt Disney Resort hotels you can make a reservation up to 60 days in advance of your trip.
  • If you have tickets only and not staying in the Walt Disney Resort, you can book your FastPass+ reservations up to 30 days in advance

You can also change and switch around your selections at any time leading up to the day and time you actually visit the attraction

Can You Only Book a FastPass+ for Rides?

No. There are other attractions like shows and meeting Disney characters at a “character spot.”

How Many FastPass+ Reservations Do I Get with My Ticket and What About My Family?

You get 3 FastPass+ attractions per ticket, per day. Once you have used them up, you get another while you are still at the park. You can also connect your family’s tickets to your My Disney Experience account so you can book theirs too.

Does Every Ride Have a FastPass+ Option?

No. They are only available for popular Walt Disney attractions. Who wants to wait in a long line, anyways? There is also limited supply on the number of FastPass+ reservations they allow. So the popular ones get snatched up quickly whereas others are a little more forgiving and flexible.

What are the Hardest FastPass+ Reservations to Get?

If you’re like me and want to experience all their best rides, then check out this list of rides you must do – which also happen to be the hardest FastPass+ reservations to get because they are so popular (rides only):

Magic Kingdom
• Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – this ride is soooooo good. Highly recommend this one.
• Peter Pan’s Flight

Epcot
• Frozen Ever After

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
• Flight of Passage (Avatar ride)

All these rides were tough to get into except the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which I managed to get on twice using a Evening Extra Magic Hour. I couldn’t get on it during the day because it was a 90 min+ wait the whole entire day, and this mama ain’t got time for that (plus, I have a toddler…so yeah, enough said)

More Resources About a FastPass+

I found a really great resource on this topic here on this website They get really into the details but it’s helpful to understand how it really works. Your Disney Vacation Planner can also help you with all this too. I wish I knew this in advance. I’m still bitter about not riding on Flight of Passage but I guess I’ll just have to go back. My husband would be so excited. *sarcasm*
